ESTEROL 116 Methyl Oleate (High Saturates)
Product Description
Esterol 116 is a fatty ester derived from natural oils that has excellent solvency properties, is readily biodegradable and has low toxicity characteristics.
COMMON AND OTHER NAMES Methyl Ester of Mixed Fatty Acids
(Palmitate/Oleate)
CHEMICAL COMPOSITION Fatty Acid, Methyl Ester
CHARACTERISTICS ESTEROL 116 is a pale oily liquid with
a musty odour. May partly or completely solidify if cooled below 100C.
Product Performance
ESTEROL 116TM as a fatty ester has excellent solvency powers and hence can
easily be formulated with a wide range of oils, surfactants and oil soluble
materials. Based on both saturated and unsaturated fatty acids, ESTEROL 116TM will solidify if cooled below 10ºC. It is a product which is low in colour, oxidatively stable, nonvolatile and readily biodegradable. Fatty esters are suitable as low hazard replacements for aromatic or petrochemical solvents.
Product Usage
Printing: De-inking of rollers and ingredient of inks
Agrochemicals: Solvent and carrier for active ingredients
Metal working: Lubricants
Key Points
Low toxicity means that it poses a low health and safety risk for users.
Readily Biodegradable means that it will have a low environmental impact.
Excellent solvency properties can provide formulators with replacements for
petroleum derived solvents.
High lubricity and low volatility characteristics can provide the properties required
of oily bases in specialized lubricant products.
